Faith
Walking on the Word
Many Evangelical Christians are believing God for supernatural breakthroughs in their lives. There are certain things in our lives that comes easy and other things that don’t come as easy. We tend to apply faith towards the things that come easy and shy away from the things that don’t come as easy. It’s time for God’s people to apply the word of God towards the Giants that stand in our way. For a running back to score a touchdown he has to get through 3 lines of defence. He has to get through the defensive line, the linebackers and defensive backs. These defenders are equipped to prevent the running back from reaching his destination or scoring a touchdown. The Bible teaches us that we wrestle not against flesh or blood, but against principalities, Powers, Rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places. There are demonic oppositions that are trying to preventing us from reaching our destination in God. I am encouraging the people of No Reputation, the imitators of Christ, the disciples and followers of our Lord and Saviour.
There is amazing power in the spoken word of God. The Bible teaches us that we are created in the image of God. The Bible tells us that God is Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Genesis 1:26-27, And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. The Bible tells us that God breathe into Adam’s nostrils the breath of Life. Genesis 2:7, “7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul”. I believe God breath into Adam his spirit, which caused him to come alive and become a living soul. Our spirit is the very thing that comes from the Father, which gives us His image. God is Spirit and we are spirit beings also, which gives us fellowship and communion with God. As spiritual beings we have the ability to speak live and death. The Bible teaches us that life and death is in the tongue. There is power in the spoken word so speak positive words that are edifying and uplifting. Everything God spoke came to pass he said “let there be light and there was light." Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
Faith is not something that we put on and take off like a jacket, I like what David said when he stated “Thy words I have hid in my heart that I would not sin against thee.” Many times we try to put faith on or we think that we are a vehicle, in which we have to rev up our faith. The Word of God states that the just must live by faith and this is not a suggestion, but a command. We don’t have an alternative in order to be successful in the Kingdom of God faith must be applied. Faith must become the very air that we breathe. We sometimes have great faith for certain areas, but sometimes our faith is lacking in some areas. Peter had to deal with his faith issues when he stepped out of the boat. Many Christians are struggling with their faith and trying to put it on when there is a problem or something life threatening. I am going to teach you how to have great faith, but first you have to stretch out your hands! The priest in the Tabernacle had to be clothe according to the materials instructed by God. In Exodus 28:4, the priest was instructed to wear a breastplate, ephod, robe, coat, mitre etc. These were items that were very important and had spiritual significance concerning the ministry and calling of the Priest. In order for us to be effective in ministry we have to allow the Spirit of God to clothe us.
Have you ever tried to dress a child and they refuse to cooperate. It’s become difficult and annoying trying to clothe them without the proper communications. Here is what Jesus said to Peter in John 21:18 “ 18Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.” Jesus told Peter that he would have to stretch forth his hand, which is a sign of obedience. This is exactly what faith is, faith is simply being obedient to the word of God. We have complicated the meaning of the word faith and have created an allusion of faith being a position of determination and will power. The meaning of the word faith comes from the Greek word pistis, which simply means to belief or trust. If you trust someone you will obey them, because obedience is the act of trusting someone. Jesus told Peter that his obedience will cost him his life due to the dangers of preaching the gospel at that time in history. Where will God ask you to go and will you be obedient, that’s what faith is the act of obedience. Your destiny might just be staying where you are and being a light to that place of employment.
